After Studying Fine Art in college i began painting Family portraits. I realized that I had a true passion to capture the heart and soul of an individual. As I began to develop a style I had the desire to study the painting techniques of the great masters. I soon realized the critical importance of the skill of drawing the subject. This has remained to be THe integral Direction and classical philosophy I hold to in my own work and encourage in my students. Drawing skill is foundational to the success of a likeness.
I had the opportunity to have course study under the renown American portrait painter, Daniel greene. His instruction proved Invaluable Especially in the area of seeing and understanding varying Skin tone color in the face And palette color preparation.
I always stress that an excellent portrait is found in the character of the subject in the Eyes. The Eyes are the "window to our souls". There The portrait is found.
Pet portraits are extremely popular. The portrait possibilities range from serious realism to whimsical portraits with your pet dressed in costume. I can personalize the pet portrait in any setting. The end result is a precious gift, sweet memory or wonderful addition to your home. It is a reflection of how special these family members are to us!
After receiving a degree in Commercial Art and Illustration I taught college classes in Design and Illustration for several years. I illustrated in many publications and books. I have been challenged to create book covers and interior chapter illustrations, magazine and curriculum pages and children'sstories and storybooks. Someday I hope to write and publish a children's story book that waits in my mind and heart. Publishers continue to contact me as illustrating is still a part of my business offering.
